Worshipful Master 2012-2013

It is a wonderful thing to walk into Lodge and see new faces, and then see them doing such good work in their degrees. This was our experience in January with a great double second, complemented by an enjoyable Robbie Burns festive board. The work was well done by all, and it left everybody with a real glow of contentment. It is a reminder of the importance of diligent attention to our work as a Freemasons, because it is hard work that makes it happen: on the part of the candidates, the degree team and the Junior Warden’s team.

This attention needs to be applied to our work as Freemasons at at all levels: Community engagement and support; fraternal commitment to amity as brethren; improvement as humans and men; attention to the long term care and working of our organization so it can continue to serve as an engine for what is right in the world. It is invigorating to see newly initiated brethren taking up the challenge of their obligation and the questions. It is their first masonic step and driven by enthusiasm. The real challenge is after the newness wears off, keeping that enthusiasm going and remember your commitment in all aspects of your masonic life. Come to the meetings. Enjoy the camaraderie. Finally, and most importantly, contribute. This is when you enjoy the fruit of Freemasonry.

Sincerely and Fraternally
