We're starting a new Masonic year, and its going to be very busy. St. John's Lodge has been very fortunate over the past few years. We have a strong foundation of new and younger members, most of which have elected to enter the Officers chairs. There is a real resurgence in our Fraternity, and we have at least 2 new applicants to initiate this year. Couple those 2 with the Brethren yet to attain their Master Mason status, and we will be conferring quite a few degrees.

That is really good news, but we also need to commit to other themes as well.

We need to dedicate ourselves to ensuring our new members, and even our older members, receive an ongoing stream of information, education and confirmation of Masonic Principals. Ultimately, this is the purpose of our order.

Our older members (and some not so older members) who have lapsed into a habit of not coming to Lodge regularly need to realize that St. Johns Lodge is an exciting place to be, and new members appreciate having their fellowship. Please consider joining us. There are members of St. Johns that I have never met!! I cannot believe that.

Finally, this year we are going to ramp up our efforts to engage the larger Carleton Place community, and introduce them to the principles that we stand for and the things that we do. On September 8, we will be participating in "Doors Open Carleton Place" from noon to 5. Bring your friends and family and show them the inside of the Temple building. I'm sure they'll be interested.

I'm looking forward to seeing you all at the first meeting, and can't wait to bask in the warmth of fraternal fellowship.

Sincerely and Fraternally
